2 May 2007: Fantasy QOF Points Game a Surprise Success

Press Release

A game based on the idea of getting Fantasy QOF Points in return for ‘catching’ patients in varying states of ill-health has proven a surprise hit for the doctor who thought it up.

Dr Mark Wells said “It’s been a real surprise -- we only put it online for a bit of fun, but it’s been played thousands of times since we launched it in February. It’s a very simple game but it must be quite addictive.”

The game, created by Mark’s friend and business partner Graham Palmer, allows you to choose a character that has to catch patients in various shades of illness in return for fantasy QOF points. A patient survey gains you bonus points, but paperwork loses points and slows you down until you can get a cup of coffee. Bizarrely, there are also penguins in your way, which are to be avoided as they will quaff your fantasy QOF points!

Graham said, “The game was designed as a light-hearted way to promote our website, FindPrimaryCareJobs.com, but it seems to have gained a life of its own -- we can’t believe how popular it has been.”

You can play Fantasy QOF Points for free at www.FindPrimaryCareJobs.com/qof -- and pit your skills against the best players in Primary Care.
